Seasonal Advice

keeping pets cool in Hyderabad's peak summer

15 March 2026

As temperatures rise in Banjara Hills, pet parents can adjust walks, water access and activity while watching carefully for signs that need veterinary attention.

A pet staying cool during summer

1. Optimal walking schedules

Choose cooler parts of the day and shorten activity when conditions are hot or humid. Test surfaces carefully before a walk and choose shade or grass when paving feels hot.

2. Hydration is key

Keep fresh water available and carry water on outings. Reduced energy, unusual panting, vomiting, weakness or changes in drinking deserve prompt attention rather than an online diagnosis.

3. Recognizing heatstroke

Heavy or distressed breathing, excessive drooling, vomiting, weakness, confusion, collapse or seizures can be urgent. Move the pet away from heat and seek immediate veterinary care.

Flat-faced breeds, senior pets, very young pets, overweight animals and pets with existing conditions may need extra precautions discussed with a veterinarian.
